To follow a Spirit sounds difficult. Like following the wind – impossible! But why would the Holy Spirit, who’s goal is to point you to Jesus and Jesus’ mission for you, be difficult to follow?
Here’s how to follow the Spirit:
- Be being filled. The phrase “be filled with the Spirit” has the continuing nuance, “Be being filled.” D. L. Moody said, “I need a continual infilling because I leak!” Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you.
- Be on the field. To receive “the play” you gotta be on the field. Many cannot follow the Spirit because of not being anywhere near the field nor the bleachers nor the stadium. Get on the field of Kingdom work and wait for the Holy Spirit to call the play. How can you follow when you’re far away?
- Be full of faith. Faith is assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things not seen. This means you have eyes for the Lord and His Kingdom’s advance including the deep awareness that through God all things are possible. God pours His power into you when you are full of faith.
