Over and over in God’s Word, we read of the faithfulness of God. Perhaps you aren’t feeling that right now. If you’re relating, I want to encourage you to look for mercies.
I’ve learned that when facets of life are gloomy, obscure, dark, cloudy or undecided … all of which are difficult in their own manner … to look for God’s mercies. Often within the hard moment or within hours of the hard moment will be a mercy God gives to remind you of His presence, strength and care. Look for them.
Psalm 121 and 123 say “Lift your eyes”. Lamentations 3 says “the mercies of the Lord are new every morning” which means come and get ’em! Luke 1:78-79 says Jesus is “the sunrise from on high, giving light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.”
Christmastime carries the reminder of God’s great mercies:
1) Macro mercy to save you from the penalty of your sin – a Savior named Jesus. Have you repented and believed?
2) Moment mercies – God’s reminders of his tender care and overwatch of you when life is hard.
Look for mercies.
